In this piece, I asked deaf individuals skilled in lip reading to interpret video footage of people participating in small protests that were not covered by the media. The public gatherings took place in New York City and Washington D.C.  The lip readers were asked to utilize a remote control to rewind the video footage, as needed, to facilitate their interpretations.  By situating the images of the four lip readers adjacent to one another on a single screen, a visual and aural counterpoint is created in order to investigate the complex mechanisms of language and interpretation.
